About Us

Our Mission Statement

Brightstar Youth Services (BYS) is a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides basic, intermediate and advanced educational support to Middle and High School students who lack the necessary math, reading and language skills for college entry. Using the most advanced educational tools and services we target students from Single Parent Family Homes, High School Drop outs and households with parents that lack the resources or education or ability to support their college bound students.

The aim of BYS is to provide children and students (ages 13 to 21) with quality educational and supplemental life skills services. These services support BYS’s  endeavor to prepare our youth for the entire college entry, post-secondary. or secondary experience.
Brightstar Youth Services works to raise awareness of the negative effects of dropping out of school, and to develop effective interventions to prevent students from dropping out so that they have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
BYS includes preliminary student assessments on local standardized high stakes tests; and, on national standardized tests such as the ACT and SAT. This service identifies which children or students are eligible for the program.

We focus on filling any gaps or empty spaces that may have been created in a child’s educational experience.

Our Goals

Effective Intervention Services

·         Alternative to Suspension interim educational services provide engaging academics and career planning in combination with community service experiences for students who have been recommended for suspension, expulsion, exclusion, or reassignment, or who have disengaged from school.

·         Occupational Bridge is a set of accelerated and intensive competency-based remedial reading, writing, math, and employment readiness courses – in context – to prepare young adults with low skills to succeed in specific post-secondary occupational training or entry-level employment.

·         College Readiness is an early alert system that identifies students who are exhibiting risk factors associated with failing the first year of post-secondary education, and who will need developmental courses and support to succeed in college. This system establishes support strategies for students to help them improve their academic performance and increase their rates of success in college.

·         Workforce Readiness quickly evaluates individual needs with a simple assessment and tracks their progress towards employment, with certified training in information technology, construction and food services.  Additional training through partnership in automotive and healthcare is available.
